Essential skills

  • Serve as senior technical leader of environmental projects of medium to large scope and complexity, take part in strategy development – substantial technical expertise
  • Writing and reviewing of scientific reports ranging from medium to higher level reports for contaminated land assessments – display an authoritative coverage and interpretation of the field data and well able to defend scientific principles
  • Assisting with execution of site assessment and remediation activities at contaminated sites
  • Investigate and assess contamination levels and remediation options at a variety of chemical and petrochemical sites

Qualification and minimum requirements:

  • Experience in the writing of scientific reports is a pre-requisite
  • Honours Degree in Geology / Hydrogeology / Environmental Science with 5 years’ experience in petroleum hydrocarbon contamination assessments
  • Preference will be given to a registered professional scientist (earth sciences)
  • Experience in environmental consulting, client interaction and dealing with clients directly
  • Proven track record of budgeting, managing subcontractors and completing projects profitably
  • Provide credible references

Essential skills

 

Qualification and minimum requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Geology / Hydrogeology / Environmental Science
  • Mathematical background – must have a working knowledge of elementary mathematics, especially linear algebra and matrix algebra
  • Chemistry background – must have a working knowledge of elementary chemistry, especially chemical reaction rate constants
  • Modelling insights – must have a working knowledge of the different types and use of modelling boundary conditions and available modelling packages
  • Modelling experience – must have completed at least 50 models with more than one software package
  • 10 years’ experience in environmental consulting
